Attachment Therapy for Relational Trauma

Attachment therapy for women of color in Atlanta and throughout Georgia online

When the past keeps getting in the way of your future.

You’ve done “the work”—you know what happened to you, you know your attachment style, you’ve even been in therapy to forgive those who hurt you, but you keep feeling stuck. Attachment work is more than understanding your childhood, it’s uncovering the ways your past created a somatic blueprint for how to stay safe, even when it’s sabotaging the future you desire. Trauma-informed attachment therapy can help you finally break patterns that keep you stuck, while learning new behaviors that get you free.

What Attachment Therapy Looks Like

    Get clear on the past.

The soil informs the plant that blooms. We start by mapping your story, with the goal of cultivating clarity on where we are and what we truly need.

    Cultivate inner safety.

To journey through our pain, we must first feel safe. We’ll partner to cultivate caring, soothing, and grounding practices that support the work you’re ready for.

    Get to the root.

“The way to, is through.” With gentle intentionality, we will make room to explore our root pains in an effort to release what we no longer need and reclaim our true stories.

    Live your healing.

The goal is healing you can see. We go beyond internal insight and emotional rejuvenation. We turn our wisdom and release into new ways of showing up that shift our realities to align with our new stories.

Questions about Therapy for Attachment & Relational Issues

Still have questions? I’m excited to answer them in your free consultation call.

  • Attachment therapy is rooted in science tracing how our early childhood relationships shape how we see ourselves, others, and the world over time. Attachment therapy helps us understand how patterns formed to protect us, now prevent us from what we truly need and want. Our work will help uncover your patterns to support the actual changes needed to see the life you want unfold.

  • Relational and attachment trauma can present in a myriad of ways. It sometimes can look like “nothing”—someone who has “everything together”. Oftentimes, no matter how things look, you might feel repeatedly different from how your life “looks”, and you might be very aware of how these feelings and experiences remind you of relationship disappointments in the past. Working with a therapist can help you hone in on how to identify past distressing events, discern appropriate diagnoses, and create a path towards healing.

  • You might benefit most from relational and attachment-based therapies if you have noticed most of your emotional concerns manifest in relationships. This might be obvious if you are struggling to set boundaries, communicate your needs, or feeling lonely in your marriage.

Still, things that don’t seem ‘relational’ can still be a function of relational dynamics:

    • When burnout turns into feeling like you are letting others down,

    • when performance feels like the way you earn others’ love and acceptance, or

    • when resting feels like betrayal to your loved ones, you might be dealing with a relational root to your concerns.

All of these concerns can be address effectively by relational or attachment therapy by helping you see clearly where these relationship patterns developed, and practicing shifting to more supportive patterns right in the therapy room.
